Out of the twenty impact-driven startups selected for the 2021 cohort includes not 1 but 3 startups from Ghana. These are Complete Farmer, Kadi and Wala Digital Health. Each startup will receive $100k investment in return for 5% equity. Startups are also entitled to an 8-week sprint in Stockholm.

Complete Farmer was founded in 2017 by Desmond Koney and Zoussi Ley is an end-to-end digital agriculture platform that provides industries with an easier and cheaper way to source for quality farm produce and provides individuals anywhere in the world with a convenient way to own a farm by removing middlemen and farm produce aggregators.

Kadi Africa is a logistics startup, founded by Paul-Miki Akpalibe in 2020. This startup enables informal logistics providers get paid on schedule and grow their business. Kadi Africa aggregates short-term and long-term haulage projects and provides an AI/ML-based cost/risk prediction algorithm, payment API integration, and access to working capital to help them lower operating costs, reduce payment default risks, and speed up financial transactions.

Wala Digital Health is a health-tech startup that connects hospitals and patients to donors. In addition to this, Wala, founded by Dennis Addo in 2019, has created a reliable and constant system for the supply of blood. By giving donors digital tokens that can be exchanged for medical services, Wala motivates people to donate blood.

Aside from these companies, there are other African startups that have been selected for the programme: Africa Labs, Asimilia, Kwara, Nash from Kenya, Gradely from Nigeria and Pesa Choice from Rwanda.

From all of us at Innovation Spark, congratulations to all the startups and thank you for having impact as part of your mission. Looking forward to seeing the successes in the years to come.
